Google Has Eyes on Ottawa's Shopify

As Google looks to ramp up its public cloud efforts to compete with Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure, the tech titan may have eyes on Shopify.

According to Re/Code, Shopify is among three billion-dollar companies Google is interested in acquiring.

Valued just north of $2 billion, Ottawa's Shopify is an e-commerce platform that went public last year.

For the full year 2016, Shopify currently expects revenues in the range of $320 million to $330 million and a GAAP operating loss in the range of $36 million to $42 million.
